A bit of history
A few years before creating TEQOYA, Pierre Guitton (its future founder), whose daughter suffers from asthma, tested and experienced the benefits of an air ionization system developed by Jacques Breton. Professor at the University of Bordeaux and member of the New York Academy of Sciences, Jacques Breton spent more than 15 years studying air ionization: the generation of negative ions in the purest environments on the planet, and their action on aerosols. He developed this new technology to emit large amounts of negative ions without generating ozone or any other hazardous chemical substances. However, his technology remained largely unnoticed for several years. In 2014, during a peak in air pollution in Paris, Pierre Guitton decided to create TEQOYA and share this technology with as many people as possible.

The name TEQOYA combines the notion of technology ('tech') with that of the sequoia*, a symbol of nature's strength and longevity.
* The presence of ions in forest air is often associated with an electrostatic effect occurring at the tips of conifer needles.

Local manufacture
Our main goal is to design and manufacture of eco-friendly products. To do so, we ensure the respect of the planet at each step. That's why we have chosen to manufacture our products locally.
In fact, TEQOYA designs and manufactures its air purifiers in France and partly in the Spanish Basque Country, always less than 500 km from its factory in Villandraut (Bordeaux region, France).
Company from Pays de la Loire and French leader in multi-surface and multi-coating encapsulation techniques. The wood used in our purifiers is sourced from a certified, environmentally friendly supply chain.
Manufacturer located in Angers, specializing in the development of tools and the production of high-precision technical parts. The plastic used for our product casings is 100% recyclable.
Located in Villandraut, European leader in paper-based packaging. Our product packaging is raw, reusable, and uses as little ink as possible.
In addition to our factory in Villandraut, assembly is also carried out by AJC Développement (Angers, France) and by SITEC (San Sebastian, Spanish Basque Country).
We control each step of the production, assembly and quality process of our products. Some steps are carried out internally in our factory or outsourced, depending on product references and volumes.
Thus we value the know-how of local companies to permanently combine product quality and take into account the environmental impact throughout the life cycle of our air purifiers.
TEQOYA wishes to go even further to offset the carbon impact associated with the manufacture of its air purifiers: committed alongside the association Semeurs de Forêts.
