Moisture & Bacteria

Damp air affects more than your walls

A humid home can lead to mold, stale odors, or a “heavy” feeling in the air.

It's not only uncomfortable — it can also affect your respiratory health.

While ionization doesn't remove moisture, it helps reduce the effects of excess humidity by limiting what grows and circulates in the air.

How humidity affects indoor air

Moisture comes from everyday life: cooking, showering, drying clothes, or even breathing — and worse, from poor home insulation. When air doesn't circulate well, humidity accumulates on surfaces and in the air, creating ideal conditions for mold and bacteria to grow.

Over time, it encourages the growth of mold and dust mites, two invisible guests that can irritate your skin, throat, and lungs. At some point, this crosses the threshold your body can handle comfortably.

Breathing becomes harder, you feel it across your respiratory system, and can't sleep well anymore. And because of how our modern homes are built to isolate the inside air from the outside's, getting rid of harmful particles caused by such moisture remains a long and uncertain process.

Why it's hard to manage humidity

When dealing with moisture, people often turn to air purifiers, dehumidifiers, or sprays. But each solves only a part of the problem:

aération

Dehumidifiers reduce humidity and moisture, but don't remove particles, spores, or bacteria already present in the air.

filtre hepa

Filter-based air purifiers do remove these particles. But the excess of humidity makes their filters way less durable, forcing you to change them more often, and consumming more energy to work.

spray contre pollution

As for cleaning sprays, they may remove visible mold, but they rarely act on what floats in the air - and even add more chemicals to it.

Each method addresses part of the issue — but not the invisible effects of humidity on your air.

How we use a natural phenomenon: air ionization

Have you ever thought that when it rains, after a storm or near a waterfall, the air feels especially fresh and pure?

That's thanks to a natural event: the air being cleaned by negative ions.

In short, when water drops break, they create negative ions, which attach themselves to airborne particles (from dust and pollen, to pollutant and fine particles).

These harmful particles become charged with negative ions, and they start being attracted by bigger electrostatic masses. Indoors, that means furniture, walls, and in most cases, the ground. So as they get charged with more and more negative ions, they're attracted away from where you could breathe them.

That's how negative ions remove harmful particles in the air, leaving it as pure as possible.

Our ionizer air purifiers recreate this natural process indoors.

Instead of pulling air through a disposable filter, like most air purifiers, ours release negative ions to neutralize pollutants directly in the air / or attract them into a cleanable compartment.

This means there's no noisy ventilation, and no filters to replace — just cleaner air that feels lighter and fresher, like in nature.

They Noticed the Effectiveness of TEQOYA Air Purifiers

I used to have asthma problems. But since we installed the ionizer, I have much fewer breathing issues. I used to need a long-term treatment, but now it's over.

Malo Guyon-Alsat, Student, France (Paris Region)

For a few years, I've suffered from asthma. Your concept convinced me, so I bought a TEQOYA and placed it in our bedroom. Overnight: no more attacks! I've had only one since, but it was in the car. I then bought two more, one for the living room, another for my office at work. [...] I am quite optimistic; in my opinion, in a few months, my asthma will have completely disappeared.

Fabien Carpentier, France

I have a dust allergy that makes me sneeze whenever there's dust in the air. Since the Teqoya device has been prominently placed in my living room, I have attacks much less often.

Gisèle, France

I had asthma and chronic sinusitis that kept me from sleeping well at night... Congested nose, trouble breathing. Since I installed the TEQOYA T200 on my bedside table, I've been able to sleep through the night. Not all my health problems are fully resolved, but there's real improvement. I'm very happy with this device and won't hesitate to take it with me when sleeping away from home because it's very compact, light, and easily fits into a suitcase.

Karima Layeb, France

We have three people with asthma, including two children with asthmatic coughs. We bought three TEQOYA devices, and since placing them in the bedrooms, we've seen improvements: fewer asthmatic coughs, fewer sick people at home, and probably better sleep quality as well. We are happy with our investment.

Anonymous, France (Paris Region)

I used to get out of breath climbing metro stairs, for example. Also, during physical activity, I feel more enduring [...] Since the ionizer was plugged in at home, I've had half as many attacks [...] So, because I'm very happy with the Teqoya and find it truly effective, I tell people about it whenever I can.

Christine H., France

My daughter is asthmatic and prone to coughing fits that could last 3-4 hours! After putting the purifier in her room, her coughing fits disappeared, and now she has only one per week! She sleeps better, breathes better, and no longer wakes up crying [...] It's a good investment.

Audrey, France

Half an hour after turning on the TEQOYA T450, no more headaches, no more coughing. My allergies decreased. What a difference at home!

Anonymous, Belgium

It's been about fifteen days since your ionizer was installed in my bedroom. Aside from the great design and compact size, I wanted to express my satisfaction. Indeed, my morning awakenings are much better. Being asthmatic, this is very much appreciated.

Sophie, France

Our technology is used by health professionals

When we started TEQOYA in 2015, it was backed by more than 15 years of research and many proven institutes. You can learn more about how our technology works by clicking here.

Our founder, Pierre, wanted to first help his asthmatic daugther, then the most people possible, breath clean air. Turns out most health professional share this goal, and many adopted TEQOYA across their establishments.

Today, our purifiers are present in hospitals, at several nursing homes, and in numerous consultation and waiting rooms of health professionals.

About TEQOYA

Pierre was looking to help his daughter, who suffered from asthma.

He discovered the benefits of an air ionization system developed by Jacques Breton, an eminent Professor, and member of the New York Academy of Sciences, who spent more than 15 years studying air ionization.

This systems works by emitting negative ions, without generating ozone or any chemical substance, to neutralize polluting particles. It was then proven by research, but not offered to the general public.

But in 2014, a huge peak in air pollution happened in Paris. This became the trigger who motivated Pierre to create TEQOYA, and share this technology with as many people as possible.

Since then, TEQOYA has been receiving many awards, support, and was chosen by many brands and institutions. But most importantly, it has helped thousands of people breath clean air.

Frequently Asked Questions

TEQOYA’s ozone-free ionization can remove up to 99% of pollutants, bacteria, and viruses. Our most powerful device, the E500, is used in hospitals and by healthcare professionals.
No: A dehumidifier removes moisture but doesn’t treat bacteria, while an air purifier removes bacteria without reducing air moisture. Both are complementary.
No: An air purifier removes bacteria and harmful particles from the air but doesn’t remove the source. You need to address the root cause. The purifier reduces the impact of mold and moisture on air quality, removing what could affect your health.
You can monitor your air quality with a sensor of your choice. You can buy or rent ours, the TEQOYA S1, which we lend free for one month if you purchase one of our air purifiers. Users usually start seeing results within the first 24 hours.
We also have a filter-based purifier, the TEQOYA E500, but unlike HEPA filters that need frequent replacement, it uses a washable filter for reuse. Our other products are air ionizers: purifiers that use air ionization, a natural phenomenon to remove harmful particles from the air we breathe, with the advantage of being completely silent and (almost) maintenance-free.
